SUMMARY:
On-site role in our Brea, CA office. The Project Engineer I - Training role provides foundational training and support for entry-level Project Engineers. This role focuses on developing the skills needed to provide effective administrative and technical project assistance under the guidance of senior project staff. This non-exempt, individual contributor position is ideal for candidates seeking to grow within the construction project management field, with an interest in and a basic knowledge of electrical theory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Administration and Coordination: Provide internal project support through structured training and coordination of project tasks, learning how to manage project documentation and data entry accurately.
- Job Setup and Documentation: Assist in setting up jobs in project management software, creating Job Information Sheets, and establishing Job Files with appropriate guidance and oversight.
- Subcontract Administration: Learn how to assemble subcontracts for review and maintain relevant documentation.
- Data Management: Support the maintenance of data accuracy in project management software (Procore) through hands-on training and supervised data entry tasks.
- Purchase Orders: Under the supervision of experienced project engineers, assist in creating and processing purchase orders throughout the project duration.
- Scheduling: Learn to prepare project schedules based on estimated hours, project milestones, and established guidelines, with direct oversight from senior project staff.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate Tier-Subcontractor scheduling with Baker Electric Project Foremen, ensuring that all relevant information is communicated clearly and effectively.
- Permitting and Compliance: Support the obtaining and maintaining of necessary permits through structured learning and direct mentorship.
- Technical Training: Senior engineers will provide training to help participants develop a basic technical understanding of single-line, lighting, and switchgear drawings.
- RFI Process: Review and understand Requests for Information (RFIs) generated by field personnel and learn how to compare them with project drawings and specifications.
- RFI Tracking: Coordinate the RFI process under the guidance of senior project staff, ensuring timely responses and maintaining accurate logs.
- Submittal Coordination: Under supervision, support the coordination with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure submittals are complete and accurate prior to forwarding.
- Punch List Coordination: Help close projects by coordinating the completion of the project punch list and learning best practices for project closeout.
- Change Order Processing: Support the processing of field-generated change order requests through hands-on training and detailed guidance.
- Communication and Reporting: Provide input and promptly respond to project status requests, adhering to established project deadlines.
