In 1938, Leroy Baker started Baker electric and since that time the company as relied on the leadership of 4 generations of the Baker family. The company specializes in electrical contracting, renewable and alternative energy services throughout the southwestern United States. Baker Electric's experience includes projects in healthcare, military education, hospitality/gaming, multifamily housing, solar power, energy storage, public works, transportation and other markets.

In 2020, Baker Electric became an ESOP, transferring 100% ownership to their employees.
