ISG is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team. Our Water/Wastewater team serves the essential Municipal and Industrial clients throughout the entire US and are comprised of employee owners in Sioux Falls, Storm Lake, Des Moines, and St. Louis Park offices. We are a full-service, multi-disciplinary team, who perform award winning work in planning, design, survey, and construction.
Our water/wastewater engineers are responsible for the following:
- Project responsibilities may include working as an individual or leading project teams to assist our clients with evaluation, planning, and implementation of water, wastewater, and reuse system operations
- Treatment technology assessments that may include data analysis, mass balance calculations, modeling, bench testing, and pilot testing
- Existing system operation, troubleshooting, and process improvement assessments
- Long-range planning assistance, including assessment of current operating systems and forecasting of future capital and operating expenses
- Supporting studies and alternative analysis to determine best treatment options to meet compliance and client goals
- Development of conceptual and detailed engineering including plans and specifications for construction
- Assistance with construction, start-up, troubleshooting, and operation of new systems
- Conducting field observation, inspection and data collection
- Assisting in the preparation of permit submittals for water/wastewater projects
- Collaborating with team members, communities, and stake holders to define data needs, project requirements and outputs or to develop applications
- Other duties as assigned

Here are some projects we've worked on recently that might give you a better sense of what you'll be doing day to day:
- City of Sioux Rapids, IA: Upgrade water treatment plant to include additional source well, ion exchange for nitrate removal. Project also included new building, high service pumps, valves and controls.
- Prestage Farms, Eagle Grove, IA: Wastewater pretreatment system to send wastewater to the City of Eagle Grove Wastewater Treatment Facility. The design incorporated stringent phosphorus and nitrogen limits in a stream loaded with BOD, FOG, TSS and dissolved solids. Well development (2-2000 gpm wells) and Reverse Osmosis pretreatment for production supply water.
- Forsman Farms, Howard Lake, MN: Wastewater pretreatment system to meet compliance requirements of the City owned wastewater treatment plant for a heavily automated egg-processing facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar is required
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- 10 years of experience in design and computerized drafting of new and rehabilitated water treatment facilities, groundwater wells, water storage facilities, water distribution systems, pumping stations, wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, and lift stations
- Strong technical skills related to water and wastewater engineering
- Experience with team building and leadership preferred
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communications skills
