Responsibilities:

Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders
Threading and assembling black pipe
Groove and assemble steel pipe
Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications
Install valves, hangers, supports and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
Assemble, install, and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
Assist with coordination of materials, labor, and equipment
Order, inventory, and receive material delivered on computer
Responsible for training and developing apprentices
Ensure all safety procedures and quality standards are followed
Work with other departments as needed

Requirements:

Minimum 5 - 7 years of pipefitting or plumbing experience in a commercial/industrial setting
Must have previous experience in supervision (1 - 3 years minimum is preferred)
Must have strong communication skills
Can perform Job/Site layouts   
Cooling tower knowledge  
Chiller knowledge  
Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints  
Can read/interpret the following: Schematics, Product Specifications  
Mechanical code knowledge  
Valid Driver's License

Preferred Requirements:

Has a CSD 1/backflow Certification  
Monitor actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule 
Knowledge of municipal water supplies, valve configurations and operating  
Capable of accurately troubleshooting all systems, wet, dry, pre-action  
Knowledge and piping of Air compressors/ Air dryers for dry and pre-action systems

Equipment & tool experience:  

Aerial lift Operation – Boom & Scissor Lift   
Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000#   
Telehandler   
Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical   
Trailer Loading and Securing of Material

Rigging Requirements: 

Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines    
Identifies common load configurations & positioning   
Calculate load weights   
Rigger 2 training – trains on above

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height
Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
Must be able to work in cold/hot environments
Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain
