The Foreman is responsible for managing and coordinating construction crews from start to finish, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This includes planning, directing, and overseeing the activities of employees engaged in construction work. This position is classified as “safety-sensitive.”
Essential Functions
- Coordinates daily tasks according to priorities and plans. Makes changes due to weather, materials, and personnel.
- Delegates individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
- Trains, mentors, and supervises employees and contractors
- Provides adequate resources to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs
- Emphasizes the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment
- Provides training on safety gear and procedures
- Develops and manages quality standards for sites
- Resolves conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
- Regularly reports project status to supervisors, site engineers, and other parties
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or related role with proven leadership skills
- A working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction and repair of structures
- Possesses the technical skills for interpreting construction methods, technologies, and technical drawings
- Ability to drive projects to completion on time and within budget
- Experience training, mentoring, and supervising workers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey information to others effectively
- Ability to successfully organize, plan, and prioritize work
- Customer service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration, developing a positive relationship
- Time management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on-time
Working Conditions
- Location – This project is located in Farmington, NM. Subsequent projects may be nationally based.
- Travel – This role will be expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally
- Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. May be exposed to high noise levels.
