- Drive implementation of standardized environmental improvements to enhance compliance, reduce risk, and improve environmental performance metrics across locations.
- Track and report key environmental metrics (e.g., waste generation, wastewater/effluent sampling results, stormwater inspections, permit conditions, audit findings) to support data-driven decision-making.
- Maintain and oversee environmental compliance calendars and facility-specific inspection/audit programs, collaborating with site leadership to close actions on time.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for environmental topics during external audits/inspections (e.g., regulatory agency visits, customer audits, ISO 14001), ensuring facilities maintain compliance.
- Partner with Plant Managers, Operations, Maintenance, and HR to ensure environmental responsibilities are understood and executed, and to address serious environmental compliance risks.
- Deliver environmental train-the-trainer compliance training (e.g., stormwater/SPCC, waste handling, spill response, hazardous waste) and coordinate external training as needed.
- Support environmental incident investigations (e.g., spills, permit deviations, exceedances), perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with site leaders and the EHS team to develop, implement, and refine environmental policies, procedures, and environmental management system (EMS) elements.
- Ensure that environmental records are created, maintained and stored as required (permits, manifests, inspection logs, sampling results, regulatory correspondence), ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
- Use data insights to identify environmental trends, recurring compliance risks, and improvement opportunities, helping leadership make proactive decisions.
- Generate reports on environmental compliance status and performance for plant leadership and EHS leadership; provide periodic summary support for key safety metrics as assigned.
