Ames Construction is seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to oversee underground utility, piping, and excavation operations on heavy civil highway, mining, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to field crews while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, production, quality, and schedule performance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Instill safety as a top priority for all crew activities and jobsite operations.
- Provide on-site supervision, leadership, and direction to field crews.
- Manage and coordinate daily pipe installation and excavation activities.
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, and grade stakes.
- Establish and adjust work sequences to meet project schedules and production goals.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, surveyors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, and equipment utilization.
- Analyze and resolve field issues as they arise.
- Ensure crew timecards are completed and submitted weekly.
- Complete daily foreman reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Understand and utilize survey and grade staking tools, including lasers, transits, and GPS systems.
- Assist with training and mentoring field personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pipe Foreman or Supervisor in the heavy civil construction industry.
- Experience with underground utility installation, HDPE pipe, excavation, grading, and civil infrastructure projects.
- Pipe welding and fusion experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, trench safety, and safe work practices.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operations and capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
- Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs and perform physical jobsite activities, including standing, walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test is required.
Working Conditions
- Travel: Projects are located throughout Arizona, with future opportunities on nationally based projects.
- Schedule: Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with overtime as needed.
- Construction Site Environment: Exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, high noise levels, and active heavy equipment operations.
