Position Summary:
The Staff Pharmacist will accurately fill prescriptions for customers; to consult and advise the customers on their medication (prescription and non-prescription medications); to provide for the total well-being of the customer. Assists the pharmacy manager in maximization of customer service, prescription count, sales, and profit within the pharmacy department. Responsible for the positive working relationship of the pharmacy department with the total store management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department.
- Performs all quality assurance steps to ensure a technically accurate prescription is dispensed.
- Reports dispensing incidents in a timely manner, in accordance with company guidelines.
- Relies on experience and professional judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
- Ensures outstanding customer service is always exhibited by all employees.
- Successfully manages the entire pharmacy staff with a friendly, positive, and team-oriented approach.
- Work as a team member with all the store management.
- Maintains and develops professional relationships with doctors and others in the health service professions.
- Manages and balances the pharmacy inventory to provide for maximum turns while remaining in-stock for customer needs.
- Oversees the transmitting, processing, and receiving of orders to and from the wholesalers and additional suppliers as needed.
- Oversees the checking of pharmacy inventory for outdates and processing of all returns.
- Ensures prescription files and other manual records are maintained in accordance with all state and federal guidelines.
- Works with the pharmacy manager to meet or exceed budgetary sales guidelines and operating the pharmacy within said guidelines.
- Actively participates in company initiatives to increase pharmacy profitability.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient information in accordance with HIPPA standards.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.
- Complies with all HAC, Inc. pharmacy policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
- Ensures in-store pharmacy technology is being used to its fullest potential to allow for a maximum return on investment of the technology and life span.
- Ensures a clean and professional environment.
- Ensures all Loss Prevention policies are followed by all employees and report deviations from said policies to Loss Prevention.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory received:
The Staff Pharmacist reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
- Continuing Education as required by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
- Oklahoma Preceptor License (Required).
- 1 year of Pharmacist experience (Preferred).
- Certified Immunizer.
