SUMMARY: The Project Engineer I is responsible for providing administrative support, such as data entry, processing and coordination of items. The Project Engineer I is part of the project team working in collaboration to successfully complete construction projects and begins to support with technical project items. This is a non-exempt position that is an individual contributor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide internal project support through administration and coordination of project tasks.
- Set up jobs in project management software, create Job Information Sheets and establish Job Files.
- Assemble subcontracts for review.
- Maintain data accuracy of project management software (Procore).
- Create and process purchase orders throughout duration of project.
- Prepare project schedules based on estimated hours, electrical tasks, project milestones, resource leveling, Project Manager Guidelines and project criteria.
- Create and update project schedules and labor tracking sheets.
- Coordinate Tier-Subcontractor scheduling with Baker Electric Project Foremen.
- Obtain and maintain all necessary permits.
- Discuss utility service, supply, or project related issues with inter-departmental personnel and field forces, representatives of agencies, engineering firms, contractors, developers, manufacturers and distributors.
- Review and understand basics of single line, lighting and switchgear.
- Review all Requests for Information (RFIs) generated from Baker field personnel and compare these to the project drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate the RFI process ensuring answers are received in a timely manner.
- Maintain a log tracking the routing and time frames of all submittal documents.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors ensuring submittals are complete and correct prior to forwarding.
- Administer the closing of the project by coordinating the completion of the project punch list.
- Coordinate with the Foremen or Superintendent as necessary to ensure the punch list is completed in an expeditious manner.
- Process Baker Electric field generated change order requests.
- Provide input and respond to project status requests in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.
- Perform overtime work, as required and requested by Supervisor to meet department and company needs.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related degree or successful graduation of an electrical training program
- 1+ year of professional administrative experience and/or internship
- Proven ability to learn new technology
- Proficiency in MS Office / O365 applications
