About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Engineer I (Sr. PE I) to engage with our clients at a high level to assess their operations, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to maximize energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems and may also work with commercial sites. The Sr. PE I takes the lead to consult, gather data, create optimization models of industrial systems and commercial facilities, and write feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects. The Sr. PE I provides mentorship and contributes to peer support and quality control review.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Leading, managing, and directing high-profile projects and maintaining accountability on assigned projects
- Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, an/or generally accepted methodologies
- Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to gain a deep understanding of their equipment and operations, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency, and providing recommendations
- Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities that may result in generating significant new work from new and existing clients
- Presenting complex technical issues with a diverse audience in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
- Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
- Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
- Providing peer mentorship through technical discussions and work review
This is a full-time, exempt position to be located in either the states of New York or Connecticut, but neighboring states would work as long as the candidate is open to traveling to client locations approximately 10-20% of the time.
Qualifications
Applicants for this role are required to have:
- Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
- 5 - 8 years of engineering experience related to industrial energy efficiency or large-scale commercial (HVAC) energy consulting
- Expert technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control, and data-logging of system results
A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities demonstrated by educational or professional experience
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders and serve their needs

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 – we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).
The salary range for this position will be geographically adjusted based on where the final candidate resides. The range posted based in/normalized for Portland, Oregon is $105,500 - $123,100/year.However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
