Overview
As a Survey Technician II for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will perform survey work relating to topography, boundary, and construction staking. You will work on land survey projects, operate instrumentation, clear brush (as needed), drive stakes, hold chains or rods, take simple notes, make minor sketches and clean equipment as needed. You will be responsible for utilizing various surveying programs to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and will perform minor computations as required. You will perform survey work for commercial, institutional, solid waste, and energy clients, and will perform incidental clerical and custodial duties and aid in the upkeep of survey vehicles and survey tools as needed. A qualified candidate for this position will be capable of quickly learning proper methods of field operation for LiDAR scanning equipment. Additionally, the successful candidate will be capable of learning to process point cloud data and prepare either survey drawings or the point cloud in electronic format for transfer to the client.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related land survey experience;
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying;
- Skilled in the use of GPS and conventional equipment;
- Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions;
- Ability to operate motorized equipment; and
- Valid Driver's License.
Here's What We'd Like to See:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Engineering, or Geomatics;
- Experience with LiDAR scanning equipment;
- Familiarity with Trimble equipment, Survey Controller, and Trimble Business Center;
- Experience with AutoCAD;
- First Aid, CPR, or 40-hr Hazwoper certification;
- Experience with client communications; and
- Experience working with Engineers in a consulting environment.
