PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assist in the administration of company policies, company records, keeping all information obtained strictly confidential. Support Corporate Safety Programs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the employee owner will:
- Plan and implement safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
- Leads forklift training and keeping track of material and re-certifications.
- Prepare/update lockout/tagout procedures for machinery.
- Prepares studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Plant inspections – OSHA Compliant – inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Plan and implement the Hearing Conservation Program – schedules onsite hearing tests.
- Plan and schedule, Universal Waste, Special Waste pickups – attend RCRA Training.
- Develop and understanding of applicable regulations and relationships with local agencies. Help implement and maintain an effective filing system that helps demonstrate compliance with legal and other requirements.
- Provide information, signs, posters, barriers and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
- Complies and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. (OSHA 300 Logs)
- Manages administration of worker’s compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
- Respond to emergency situations that could occur inside or outside of standard working hours.
- Work closely with leadership team to develop safety/environmental strategies that are integrated with site and company business goals.
- Plan and lead Safety New Hire Orientation Training and lead Safety Team Meetings.
- Lead monthly safety training for employees.
- Some domestic travel required.
- Continually participate in additional training in safety and environmental fields.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience required.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES
- Continually participate in additional training in related to Human Resources fields.
- OSHA 10 Hr. class.
- OSHA 30 Hr. class.
- RCRA Haz-Waste Handling
- Continually participate in additional training related to the job.
- Valid Driver’s License

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
- Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses and ear protection in production areas.
