PURPOSE STATEMENT:
To accurately fill prescriptions for customers; to consult and advise the customers on their medication (prescription and non-prescription medications); to provide for the total well-being of the customer. Responsible for all the pharmacy operations and the maximization of customer service, prescription count, sales, and profit within the pharmacy department. Responsible for achieving the net contribution margin of the pharmacy department. Responsible for the positive working relationship of the pharmacy department with the total store management team.
SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department.
- Performs all quality assurance steps to ensure a technically accurate prescription is dispensed.
- Reports dispensing incidents in a timely manner, in accordance with company guidelines.
- Relies on experience and professional judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
- Ensures outstanding customer service is always exhibited by all employees.
- Successfully manages the entire pharmacy staff with a friendly, positive, and team-oriented approach.
- Work as a team member with all the store management.
- Maintains and develops professional relationships with doctors and others in the health service professions.
- Manages and balances the pharmacy inventory to provide for maximum turns while remaining in-stock for customer needs.
- Oversees the transmitting, processing, and receiving of orders to and from the wholesalers and additional suppliers as needed.
- Oversees the checking of pharmacy inventory for outdates and processing of all returns.
- Ensures prescription files and other manual records are maintained in accordance with all state and federal guidelines.
- Responsible for all pharmacy and insurance audits.
- Responsible for pharmacy personnel scheduling.
- Presence and preparation for all pharmacy inventories
- Presence and preparation for all pharmacy third party audits.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding budgetary sales guidelines and operating the pharmacy within said guidelines.
- Implements and actively participates in company initiatives to increase pharmacy profitability
- Responsible for the training and development of all pharmacy department personnel.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient information in accordance with HIPPA standards.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.
- Maintains required licenses in good standing and in date with the State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA.
- Complies with all HAC, Inc. pharmacy policies, procedures, rules, and standards
- Ensures in-store pharmacy technology is being used to its fullest potential to allow for a maximum return on investment of the technology and life span.
- Oversees the maintenance of the pharmacy department to ensure a clean and professional environment
- Ensures all Loss Prevention policies are followed by all employees and report deviations from said policies to Loss Prevention.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
- The Pharmacy Manager reports directly to the Pharmacy Director.
Job Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Certified Immunizer
- Strong Organizational skills
- Strong skill in Microsoft Excel / Microsoft Word
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
- Continuing Education as required by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy
- Oklahoma Preceptor License (Required)
- 2 years of Pharmacist experience (Preferred)
Work environment/physical demands:
- Constantly operates a computer and computer printer.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
