Welder to transition to Lead Welder
The position involves training to become the lead welder within the welding department directly under the guidance of the current lead welder. Responsibilities include learning to oversee and execute welding operations, supervising a team of welders, ensuring high-quality welds, and maintaining safety standards. Additionally, the role focuses on optimizing welding processes to meet production goals and preparing for future leadership within the department. This training opportunity is essential for developing the skills necessary to assume the lead welder role.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promote a healthy working environment for your teammates
- Assign/prioritize work based on the production schedule and in alignment with the skills matrix
- Help personnel with any training and development they need assistance with
- Update Leader Board with pertinent information and work with Fabrication Supervisor to undertake any schedule needs or shop improvement projects
- Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications and standards
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corresponding corrective actions
- Maintain area metrics, tools, and consumable supplies
- Check work after completion of each operation in a job and/or completed job to ensure its in accordance with drawing
- Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3+ years of experience with TIG 300 series stainless /6061/6052 aluminum and MIG/ Flux Core A36
- Detail oriented
- Pride in workmanship
- Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
- Team player
- High quality work
- Necessary competencies to be successful
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and stainless steel structural shapes and tubing
- Certificate in welding or related field preferred
Requirements:
- Able to pass all weld certification requirements
- Able to pass visual exams
- Able to perform the following functions: lifting up to 30 lbs. unassisted, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing stooping, stretching, and carrying
- Able to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
