Symbria Rx Services is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to add to our growing team at our Pharmacy Technician in Woodridge, IL!
Position SummaryThe Purchasing Specialist is responsible for partnering with the Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor to manage the activities of the purchasing and inventory control departments of all Symbria Rx Service’s pharmacies in a cost-effective manner, as well as, ensuring the maintenance of records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and return of pharmacy product and supplies. This position has a project-based schedule, with time being spent in Inventory, C-box/Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS), credit & Returns, and other special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Conducts or manages audits to maintain inventory data integrity.• Maintain pharmacy formulary in accordance with company policies and procedures.• Maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records accuracy.• Conduct accurate cycle counts as per the schedule and compare results to accounting data; adjust based on established policies and management approval.• Monitor and process returns of outdated, slow-moving, and/or unused medications with wholesaler for credit.• Partners with Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor to utilize stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in inventory, and current market conditions to determine inventory levels and the need for replenishment.• Anticipate changes in purchases and adjust buying patterns accordingly.• Partners with Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor to analyze and make recommendations regarding stock levels, item status, and product disposition including returns of surplus and expired medications.• Review product tagging on the shelf for accuracy and completeness and initiates corrective action.• Assure all ordered product is organized, inventoried, and stocked appropriately in a timely manner.• Assure the pharmacy operations has sufficient stock on hand of the prescribed product via supervision of the daily wholesale order process by the purchasing team.• Assure all ordered product is organized, inventoried, and stocked appropriately promptly via supervision of the purchasing team.• Investigate special order requests from pharmacy departments including prescription items, over-the-counter items, and supplies.• Manage the returns and credit process (if state regulations allow) including receiving, reviewing, processing, and timely restocking of items returned from client communities.• Partners with Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor to review future brand to generic switches, report upcoming generic launches in monthly QM meetings, determine the most cost-effective product to stock, and coordinate the transition from brand to generic within all pharmacy departments.• Manage the inventory, onboarding, maintenance, and scheduled and non-scheduled replenishments of ADS units.• Manage customer service support of the ADSs.• Manage inventory and coordination of the exchange of C-Boxes to communities by ensuring boxes are accurate and complete.• Prepare and participate in quarterly physical inventory.• Any and all duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).• Pharmacy Technician license and/or Certification (CPhT) as per State requirement.• Minimum 18 years of age and valid driver’s license with violation free driving record as per the drivers’ review requirements. • Willingness to drive a company vehicle to client locations to perform C-Box (StatSafe) replenishments on a regular schedule.• Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making skills.• Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, make independent decisions, and demonstrate leadership skills including the ability to develop and assist team members.• Position demands extensive teamwork with associates located in multiple departments/locations across the company.• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while effectively meeting deadlines.• Ability to maintain organization, multi-task and prioritize to manage assignments within deadlines as well as strong follow-up skills.• Strong computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to travel to alternate pharmacy locations on a quarterly basis and as required by business need.• Ability to work under minimal supervision while completing assigned tasks.• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and alternate shifts for PTO/staffing coverages as operational needs dictate.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFFERED• Pharmacy inventory experience; minimum five year.• Proficient with FrameWork dispensing software.
