PURPOSE OF POSITION
To perform the set up and operation of a CNC Lathe
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the employee owner will:
- Perform setup and operation of CNC (or manual) Lathe – Typical operations include: ID and OD turning
- Produce quality parts that fall within the supplied, or standard, tolerances
- Be able to use measuring equipment to validate and ensure part quality
- Read and follow work orders, including Production Schedules and Manufacturing Orders
- Achieve a throughput level that is at or above expectation
- Be able to run a manual lathe
- Occasionally run multiple machines, simultaneously
- Work with a good attitude and willingness to be flexible with daily demands
- Perform all activities in a safe manner, per job specific training and general safety rules
- Be able to distinguish the size difference of the tube stock, shafting, slugs, and plates
- Be able to perform programming sequence to create new programs
- Be able to change out tooling – Including: cutting inserts, tool holders, drills, etc.
- Perform required preventative maintenance
- Maintain knowledge on differences between pulleys and pulley subcomponents
- Willingness to work in other areas/functions within the plant
- Regular, consistent attendance.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning
- Communicate positively with supervisors, fellow workers, and other internal customers
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to read and understand blueprints and job orders.
- Basic computer skills.
- Know how to read manual and digital micrometers, bore gauges, dial calipers, tape measure, depth micrometer and inside micrometer.
- Math and mechanical abilities.
- Concentration required when programming.
- Regular, consistent attendance.
EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
- High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES
- Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

- The employee is frequently exposed to moderate temperature, humidity in the work place and industrial equipment.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to coolant and hot metal chips.
- Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, when necessary, protective gloves and welding equipment on occasion.
