Job Description:
Torch Technologies is seeking an Unmanned Aerial Systems Technician for Autonomous Vehicle Systems to join our dynamic team. You will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and software for autonomous vehicles, working at the intersection of hardware and software innovation. We are innovators in the automation field, specializing in drones and ground vehicles for airfield inspection and recovery. Our team designs and develops cutting-edge compute payloads, autonomy stacks, and applique kits to roboticized vehicles, enabling them to sense, move, and think independently.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical Assembly & Maintenance: Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components for vehicle automation.
- PCB Handling: Assist in the testing and validation of custom PCBs under guidance from engineering staff.
- Hardware Installation: Support hardware integration efforts by installing and connecting components into vehicle platforms.
- Basic Software Assistance: Perform basic system setup, run diagnostic tests, and assist with software deployments under supervision.
- Unmanned Aerial Systems Support: Operate and maintain Unmanned Aerial Systems, ensuring proper functionality and supporting the autonomy systems team.
- Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct routine testing and diagnostics on hardware and software, documenting results for further analysis.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers and other technicians to implement and maintain systems.
- Tool Control: Maintain proper accountability and organization of tools and equipment, ensuring they are stored securely, calibrated as needed, and in working order.
- Inventory Management: Track, manage, and replenish inventory levels for tools, materials, and supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow and compliance with operational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military technical school.
- Strong proficiency in designing and building custom PCBs and programming FPGAs.
- Familiarity with robotics platforms and middleware, particularly ROS/ROS2.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and sensor integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Unmanned Vehicle Systems or a related field.
- FAA Part 107
- CDL/A License
- Knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C).
- Familiarity with field testing in dynamic environments.
