Position Overview

The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller in the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. The Staff Accountant also has a responsibility to ensure that accounting records and processes are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Core Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial data, including variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations (including work-in-progress)
Support the Controller with fiscal year-end close activities, including the annual review process
Assist the Controller with various tax filings, including the preparation and coordination of the company tax return
Maintain and manage the fixed assets schedule
Perform job cost reconciliation and review to ensure accuracy and completeness
Participate in annual business insurance renewals and audit processes
Assist the Controller with Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) administration
Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities
Assist with monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred and/or 1–3+ years of relevant experience
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including GAAP and internal control principles
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment with strong analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel
Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week, particularly during peak business cycles
On-site position in a 100% in-office work environment
