Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly technical Autodesk Solutions Architect to serve as the primary architect, engineer, and owner of our Autodesk Fusion Manage, Autodesk Fusion Operations, and Autodesk Vault ecosystem.
This role combines deep hands-on system configuration, integration development, and platform ownership with strategic leadership. The successful candidate will design, build, operate, and continuously improve our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform while reducing long-term dependency on external consultants.
This position functions as the technical authority for PLM, responsible for system architecture, data integrity, workflow design, and enterprise integration. Rather than managing vendors, this role builds and owns internal PLM capabilities.
Core Technical Ownership:
The Autodesk Solutions Architect serves as the internal technical owner and system architect for the PLM platform.
Key areas of ownership include:
- Architecting and maintaining Fusion Manage business objects, workflows, lifecycles, and permissions
- Designing and administering Autodesk Vault file structures, revision control, and lifecycle policies
- Configuring and extending PLM processes for BOM, ECO/ECR, part master, vendor data, and documentation
- Defining and governing PLM data models, metadata standards, and naming conventions
- Developing and maintaining custom automations, scripts, and API integrations
- Building and supporting integrations with ERP, MES, and downstream manufacturing systems
- Leading PLM data migration, validation, and reconciliation initiatives
- Monitoring system performance, reliability, and data integrity
- Managing sandbox, test, and production environments and release pipelines
Essential Responsibilities:
Platform Architecture & Engineering
- Serve as technical authority and system architect for Fusion Manage, Fusion Ops, and Vault
- Design scalable, maintainable PLM system architecture
- Own configuration standards, governance, and deployment practices
Integration & Automation
- Own end-to-end system integration and data flow across PLM tools
- Design, build, and maintain PLM integration architecture
- Develop and support data exchange with ERP, MES, and analytics platforms
Vendor & Partner Management
- Reduce external consultant dependency by building internal capabilities
- Manage relationships with Symetri, CGC Consulting, and other strategic vendors
- Make informed build-vs-buy decisions for system enhancements
- Leverage external partners strategically for major initiatives only
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Partner with Technology& Innovation, Fabrication, Engineering, Operations, Finance and IT teams
- Align PLM strategy with broader business objectives and manufacturing goals
- Lead cross-functional implementation projects
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and break down departmental silos
Day-to-Day Focus
Typical day-to-day activities include:
- Configuring Fusion Manage workflows and forms
- Supporting engineering and operations with complex PLM issues
- Troubleshooting Vault lifecycle, permission, and sync issues
- Developing and testing new automations and integrations
- Reviewing failed jobs, sync errors, and data exceptions
- Deploying configuration and schema updates
- Validating data quality and audit trails
- Optimizing system performance and user experience
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in PLM, MES, and/or PDM systems
- Experience serving as system owner or lead architect
- Proven track record of successful enterprise PLM implementations
- Demonstrated ability to reduce consultant dependency and build internal capabilities
- Expert-level configuration of Autodesk Fusion Manage
- Advanced administration of Autodesk Vault (revisioning, lifecycle, security)
- Strong experience designing PLM data models and governance frameworks
- Experience synchronizing PLM with ERP and manufacturing systems
- Proficiency with scripting, automation, and system troubleshooting
- Understanding of manufacturing data structures (BOM, ECO, routing, specs)
- Experience managing test and production environments
- Comfortable operating as both technical leader and hands-on engineer
- Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing capabilities
- Collaborative mindset with ability to influence without authority
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in GPJ's industry sector or similar manufacturing environment
- Background in advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, or digital transformation
- Familiarity with ERP integration and data governance frameworks
- Certification in Autodesk PLM platforms or related technologies
- Local to Nashville area (preferred for on-site collaboration and immediate availability)
