Job Description: Designer II - Mechanical Designer (2D/3D CAD – Creo Preferred)
Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer supports engineering activities for the design and documentation of Mobile and Off-road HVAC products. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and related documentation to support new product development and existing product changes. The position requires proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (Creo preferred), experience designing components using sheet metal and injection molded plastics, and the ability to apply GD&T per engineering standards. The Mechanical Designer is expected to work on multiple projects simultaneously and operate independently once given direction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and revise 3D CAD models, assemblies, and layouts using Creo (preferred) or equivalent CAD tools.
- Generate and maintain 2D manufacturing drawings, including views, notes, tolerances, and revision history.
- Apply GD&T in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5).
- Design and document parts and assemblies including:
- Sheet metal components and assemblies
- Injection molded plastic housings and related features
- Integration of electrical harness routing, clearances, and packaging considerations
- Maintain accurate part documentation including BOM structure, drawing release status, and revision control.
- Support engineering change activities including ECO/ECN documentation and drawing updates.
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to meet technical and manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet cost/quality targets.
- Provide support for prototype builds, fit checks, and troubleshooting activities as required.
- Manage multiple assigned projects or tasks and deliver results within required timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Mobile and Off-road equipment, HVAC systems, or industrial equipment packaging.
- Experience with electrical harness packaging/routing integration.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering release/change processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and tooling constraints for sheet metal and injection molded components.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and supporting prototype builds
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD; Creo preferred.
- Experience working with Windchill
- Demonstrated working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance practices.
- Experience designing for manufacturing with sheet metal and injection molded plastics.
- Ability to work independently once project direction and requirements are provided.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Grade** for this role is as follows:
Min: $115,000/annual
Max: $120,000/annual
