We are seeking a Senior Energy Efficiency Technician (Sr. EET)
The Sr. EET often leads facility tune-ups, partners with engineering/SEM staff to identify and prioritize savings, and provides advanced refrigeration expertise. The Sr. EET is experienced across key industrial subsystems (refrigeration, compressed air, pumps, fans, HVAC, lighting, boilers) and delivers targeted operator training.

What You Will Be Doing

- Lead or co-lead energy-efficiency tune-ups of industrial refrigeration systems and coordinate activities with plant staff and service providers.
- Identify and briefly quantify/prioritize energy-saving opportunities across refrigeration, compressed air, pumps, fans, HVAC, lighting, and boilers.
- Build trust with customers and guide them toward implementation of recommended energy saving projects
- Serve as the primary technical contact on select projects, providing on-site and remote support through installation and startup.
- Maintain relationship with the Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association, representing Cascade Energy with the industry and staying informed on emerging technologies and industrial refrigeration system best practices
- Plan and perform or direct short-term metering; verify basic calibration/data quality and coach technicians on setup and retrieval.
- Deliver and periodically update operator training across multiple key subsystems (refrigeration, compressed air, pumps, fans, HVAC, lighting, boilers).
- Support SEM cohorts by providing technical support in workshops and performing site visits to identify and implement energy saving opportunities
- Facilitate workshops for refrigeration operator cohorts for our Demand Side Management partners
- Provides mentorship to technicians and performs basic QA spot checks on field findings.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position located in either Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, or Portland OR, or near a major hub airport. This position will involve approximately 70% domestic travel. This estimate is inclusive of day trips; however much of the travel will be multi-day, up to one week at a time.
Qualifications
Applicants for this role are required to have:
- Significant experience operating and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems
- Experience with operation and maintenance of typical industrial energy-using subsystems including compressed air, steam boilers, pumps, fans, HVAC, and lighting.
- 5+ years of work experience in production oriented industrial environments, including work with low-voltage systems, industrial SCADA systems, and subsystem controls
- Strong proficiency with MS Office and Excel
A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) or equivalent
- 10+ years’ experience as a refrigeration operator, refrigerated facility maintenance manager, or refrigeration service technician
- Certified Refrigeration Energy Specialist (CRES) or equivalent
- Active electrical license
- Experience identifying & implementing energy efficiency opportunities across multiple sites, industries, and subsystems.
- Experience delivering technical training.

Compensation & Benefits
The full salary range for this full-time, non-exempt position is $77,400 (min) - $96,800 (mid) - $116,200 (max) annualized based on national average. Compensation will be adjusted based on geographic location of individual hired. At Cascade, transparency and fairness are core to how we work.
