This position will report to H. B. McClure Company, LLC, a subsidiary of HB Global. SUMMARY: The Commercial Construction Intern works primarily in a construction setting under the direction of the Lead Mechanic and Foreman. They will receive instruction and will assist with the installation of sheet metal, plumbing and HVAC systems. The Intern works with teammates to build a high level of teamwork and morale. Hours are job specific, however start times are typically between 6AM and 7AM. Job sites are typically within an hour of Harrisburg PA but sometimes extend beyond that. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be hard working and have a strong work ethic. Must take instruction and be willing to learn. Must have a mindset for growth. Assists with tasks relating to installation of HVAC and plumbing materials and systems. Performs appropriate communication with co-workers and customers. Personal computer, tablet, and smart phone skills. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people Always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Ability to promote and follow building, job site and department procedures and policies Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator. Perform all work within OSHA guidelines. Keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and always keep the work area clean. Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Ability to work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow. Knowledge of construction is helpful. HVAC or Plumbing experience or coursework is very helpful. Must provide all own hand tools. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. Equivalent vocational or college level courses in HVAC helpful Criminal background check required for hire Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift material, equipment, and tools, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the Employee-Owner is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Employee-Owner is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The Employee-Owner is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
