GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Network Integration Engineer & IT Specialist supports the PLEXSYS Australia Systems Engineering Manager to assist users of the PLEXSYS Ecosystem and provide technical advice to Operational personnel. Responsibilities include coordination with stakeholders to ensure operational requirements and technical requirements are met. This person will work to provide effective solutions using PLEXSYS products or identifying other products in the event of a technological gap, use of the System Engineering principles to manage the lifecycle development of projects including completing integration work as required, and work with external customers to gather use cases.
PLEXSYS DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the design and development of training systems both from an LVC simulation perspective
- Prepare and deliver quality written guidance, briefings, Concepts of Employment, and training material for LVC and Tactical Data Link Systems.
- Distill requirements to provide functional needs of architecture.
- Identify assisting products to achieve system goals.
- Planning and integrating products to achieve the desired system architecture.
- Development and implementing V&V procedures for solutions.
- Support testing and integration events for PLEXSYS-designed systems and products
- Work with customers to capture use cases.
- Produce various technical documents to support system design and testing
- Be able to manage diverse and dynamic daily work schedules.
- Support LVC exercises, demonstrations, and training events
- Support the development and maintenance of databases, scenarios, and product use cases in support of PLEXSYS ASCOT product lines
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and update of internal training products
- Maintain a satisfactory level of understanding of PLEXSYS products and operational use cases as defined by the Systems Engineering Manager
- Apply systems engineering practices with experience across the lifecycle of complex engineering systems through concept development, design, integration, test, sustainment, and disposal.
- Integrating components, sub-systems, and systems.
- Conduct test and evaluation activities including establishing test strategies, and developing test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Undertaking system modelling and developing system architectures using digital tools.
- Provide assistance and feedback to security practices and system documentation implanted at external sites.
System Administration
- Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.
- Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers.
- Providing technical support to RAAF personnel and back-end system users.
- Troubleshooting system and server errors.
- Review system error logs and user-reported errors.
- Managing user access.
- Maintaining server architecture security and creating system backups
NETWORK INTEGRATION
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the Defence ISM.
- Manage multiple systems across a Wide Area Network.
REQUIREMENTS
- Display advanced working knowledge of specifications and requirement documentation during system development. Requires an advanced understanding and workable knowledge of the contents within each TDL standards document.
- Demonstrate understanding of gathering use cases.
- Demonstrate work history and working knowledge of Network Integration Engineering and IT
- Independently perform a range of design, development, analysis, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines.
- Ability to perform integration activities within a variety of environments with a focus on Tactical Data Links.
- Ability to synthesize high-level requirements to the low-level system and design specifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems.
- Develop, maintains, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
DESIRABLE
- Experience developing training systems and
- Familiar with computer components, networks, and the ability to diagnose basic software issues
- Security Clearance: Secret or above
- Proficiency with all PLEXSYS software
