What You’ll Do
As an Industrial Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead high-scope, strategically important industrial projects with a strong focus on process-intensive and chemical-related facilities—owning Total Project Success while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and mentoring developing project managers.
- Lead high-scope, multidisciplinary industrial projects and programs involving process systems, plant expansions, utility infrastructure, production support spaces, and complex brownfield/live-facility modifications.
- Serve as the primary contact between clients and the SSR project team and act as a senior leader in delivering client confidence, quality outcomes, and strong project financial performance.
- Provide leadership on projects serving food manufacturing, chemical/process, renewables, petroleum, power, and other industrial clients with critical operational and production requirements.
- Lead project kickoffs to align internal teams and client stakeholders around scope, deliverables, risks, schedule, and execution strategy.
- Develop project staffing plans and preliminary man-hour budgets with the CRM, Department Head, or Operations Director; assist with project costing and resourcing strategy.
- Work with clients to establish delivery plans that reflect operational constraints, plant shutdown windows, phased construction, long-lead procurement, and business-critical schedules.
- Drive disciplined scope management, including identifying additional services, documenting changes, and protecting project financial performance.
- Monitor and address risks to quality, safety, constructability, schedule, budget, and ongoing client operations; lead issue resolution with the design team and stakeholders.
- Prepare and implement proactive QA/QC plans for highly coordinated industrial/process projects where technical accuracy and interdisciplinary integration are critical.
- Oversee project closeout to ensure documentation, filings, lessons learned, and debriefs are completed thoroughly and professionally.
- Strengthen client relationships by bringing practical insight into industrial/process project delivery, plant constraints, and execution risk.
- Mentor PM I and PM II colleagues in project delivery, financial management, client communication, and leadership within industrial/process project environments.
- Engage with CRM or Location Leader to deepen knowledge of scope strategy, budgeting, and revenue projections; contribute to continued growth of SSR’s industrial practice.
Minimum Requirements
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Construction, or Civil Engineering and 15 years of relevant working experience with advanced knowledge in industrial/process, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 15 years’ experience in project management/execution with an understanding of standard project management processes/procedures
- Direct experience leading large or complex industrial projects involving process equipment, chemical/process piping, utility systems, facility expansions, brownfield modifications, and execution in active plant environments
- Experience working with food manufacturing, chemical, renewables, petroleum clients, construction of mid-size industrial plants, or power stations is strongly preferred
- Proven leadership as a trusted advisor to clients
- Demonstrated, consistent ability to manage projects of various size and complexity
- Expertise in proactively managing project financials with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Competent in AutoCAD and other visualization software applications such as Microsoft Visio and Project.
- Thorough knowledge of project financial activities including budgeting, projections, reporting, and advanced project management practices.
- General understanding of business practices; expert within own engineering discipline and working knowledge of all firm disciplines.
- Deep understanding of industrial/process project execution, including live-facility constraints, plant shutdown planning, risk management, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to lead teams delivering projects involving process equipment, utilities, piping systems, production support infrastructure, and plant modernization efforts.
- Presentation skills to command attention and manage group processes; strong written communication and speech clarity.
- Organizational strengths to orchestrate multiple activities; effective delegation, relationship management, and active listening.
- Detail orientation with sound judgment and decision-making; technical writing ability; foresight to anticipate issues, coordination gaps, and delivery risks.
