SUMMARY:
This is an on-site role based in Escondido, CA. The Project Engineer I – Training role offers an entry-level, hands-on opportunity for candidates to build a career in construction project management. Under the guidance of experienced team members, you’ll develop the administrative and technical skills needed to support projects from start to finish.
You’ll be part of the Project Academy of Construction Excellence (PACE), a structured two-year training program featuring rotations in Estimating, Office Project Engineering, and Field Project Engineering. Through real-world experience, you’ll gain exposure to preconstruction, project execution, software tools, documentation, and vendor coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support project teams with coordination, documentation, and data entry
- Assist with job setup, file organization, and project tracking systems (Procore)
- Help prepare subcontracts, purchase orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field teams
- Assist with project scheduling, permitting, and compliance tasks
- Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings (single-line, lighting, switchgear)
- Support the RFI and submittal process, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up
- Assist with change orders and project closeout (punch list) activities
- Provide timely updates and respond to project-related requests
