The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services needed to support production requirements. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory levels are maintained, and customer requirements are met. The Buyer/Planner evaluates supplier performance, analyze suppliers quotes negotiates prices monitors open orders, and resolves issues related to quality, delivery, and cost.
Compensation
The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $61,496.76 to $81,995.68. The exact salary may be determined on a combination of factors including the candidate's knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
Shift/ Hours 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
Essential Functions
- Procures raw materials, equipment, tooling, parts, and supplies required to support production.
- Communicates with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders.
- Reviews purchase requisitions and determines appropriate sources of supply.
- Maintains inventory levels to support production requirements while minimizing excess inventory.
- Monitors open purchase orders and follows up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Works with production, quality, inventory control, and suppliers to resolve material, delivery, and quality issues.
- Evaluates supplier performance regarding quality, cost, and delivery.
- Maintains accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
- Assists with material planning activities and supports production schedules.
- Reviews and resolves invoice discrepancies as needed.
- May approve invoices for payment within assigned authority levels.
- Prepares reports related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
- Develops production schedules & executes Material Requirement Planning (MRP) to support customer demand.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing, planning, inventory control, or supply chain experience.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Manufacturing experience, preferably in a die casting environment.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- APICS certification or related supply chain certification.
- Experience with supplier development and inventory management.
