Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. We are looking for a candidate with a broad experience in electrical design and management including: design and equipment upgrades, power system studies including arc flash hazards analysis, low and medium voltage power distribution system design in an industrial setting, equipment design and selection including motor control centers, drives, switchgear, panelboards, substation transformers, and related equipment, drawing creation including, power plans and layouts, one-lines, wiring diagrams, for plant power. Remote work allowed. This role will ideally be based near a BC office in the Pacific Northwest region, i.e. Seattle, Portland or Boise. For the right candidate, remote/virtual from anywhere in the Mountain or West Coast time zones will be allowed.
This position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include mentoring junior and midlevel electrical and Instrumentation and Control (I&C) staff, interact with clients, manage electrical and I&C related projects, and participate in new business development. In this role, your design delivery responsibilities will include power system modeling, conceptual design development, layout and selection of equipment, development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches, bid package preparation, field investigations, electrical and I&C design, and support during construction both in the office and the field. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and desire to work with professionals who perform industrial and municipal electrical, and other water/wastewater work. Primary responsibilities include:
- Serve as a project task manager, or perform as lead discipline (electrical and I&C) engineer on projects as appropriate.
- Scope and budget projects, identify method of project execution, and coordinate staff assignments.
- Successfully manage and execute electrical designs to be on time and on budget using company systems and tools.
- Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.).
- Mentor other electrical and I&C engineers and designers.
- Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for water and wastewater treatment plant and pump station power systems.
- Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
- Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in the Electrical and I&C group.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries.
- Ability to work with Designers in Revit/BIM environment along with AutoCAD P&ID.
- Power system software design/modelling experience (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).
- Experience in industrial power systems design (medium and low voltage systems), service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, emergency power and power generation and distribution equipment.
- Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
- Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented, be able to multi-task, and work under tight and pressured deadlines.
- Collaborate with other technical teams for design coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries preferred.
- Experience in Design Build project delivery a plus.
- Additional industry certifications (PMP, LEED, CESCP) a plus.
- Experience with renewable and alternative energy design a plus (solar, wind, cogeneration).

Location A: $115,000- $156,000
Location B: $126,000- $172,000
Location C: $138,000 - $188,000
