Modeling and Simulation Technical Lead
SimVentions is a 100% employee-owned business and has consistently been voted one of Virginia's Best Places to Work. We are looking for a Modeling and Simulation Technical Lead. The current customer develops and integrates autonomy and artificial intelligence (AAI) enabled weapon systems. A software simulation environment is necessary to enable development of autonomy technology throughout the development lifecycle. The Modeling and Simulation Lead will lead the development and use of this critical capability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical development and execution of an M&S capability that will enable the development and test and evaluation of Autonomy and AI (AAI) systems
- This includes model and tool integration, sensor modeling and input integration for model stimulation and integration of physics based simulators into the solution
- The candidate will be responsible for developing a modular architecture to enable the ability to cross-utilize existing modeling environments as well as build new M&S solutions
- Work across integrated product teams to develop a standard modular architecture, software build plans and system test plans, and provide oversight to the system test activities
- They will be required to track and report M&S development progress, product quality, features, and defects
- They will be expected to implement a configuration control process and ensure the quality of each M&S product
- Additionally they will need to participate in planning meetings and advise the project lead about the M&S development approach and provide technical opinions
- Require the development of an architecture/framework M&S based solution to test and evaluate autonomy and AI systems
- They will lead a small team and coordinate with software development teams and contractors
Requirements:
- United States Citizenship
- Physics based simulation and stimulation experience such as Unity
- M&S Architecture development experience
- Leadership and coordination of small software teams
- Experience with model and tool integration
- Sensor modeling and input integration for model stimulation
- Develop documentation of system performance and design substantiation by simulation
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Advanced Programming experience in C/C++
- Knowledge of machine learning applications and machine learning frameworks
- Knowledge in Robotics and Computer vision (object detection and pattern recognition)
- Knowledge in Neural Networks and artificial intelligence
- Knowledge in software and hardware prototyping
- Operating systems: Proficiency in Linux / Ubuntu, and commonly associated system administration tasks
- Network configuration and troubleshooting experience
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or five (5) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise
Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.
The projected annual compensation range for this position is $95,000-$140,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
