Job Description

JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial, software, and information technology solutions provider, is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to join our team. The success candidate will be responsible for architecting, documenting and developing complex data architectures and business reporting applications, providing technical leadership for complex database development efforts and mentoring BI developers, Software Developers and junior architects to improve data architectures and database design processes and efficiency.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Review and provide feedback on data architectures and database designs developed for solutions across multiple projects
Collaborate with Software Architects, Software Developers, and BI Developers to design appropriate solutions for our internal team and external clients
Mentor other architects and software developers in data architecture and database design best practices
Perform and assign database development tasks of medium to high complexity across multiple projects
Work directly with third party solutions to design, document, and develop data integrations
Perform complex data migrations (ETL)
Create, contribute to, review and collaborate on data and database designs and implementations
Design and approve data architectures for large projects
Work with IT to deploy solutions
Innovate and contribute to improving development standards, techniques, tools, and processes
Attend conferences, seminars, webinars, and/or on-line training on a regular basis to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices
Train and test for industry certifications
Identify, set, monitor, and achieve individual goals
Leverage mentorship and peer relationships to increase proficiency in development
Provide support and mentorship to team members
Participate in the development personnel interview process
Develop project specific RFP response material and data/database development estimates
Participate in RFP response presentations
Collaborate with project managers, business systems analysts, UX designers, and application developers to deliver high-quality deliverables
Support production systems as urgent and critical issues arise; including non-business hours support on a rotating basis

Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related fields
8+ years of experience developing data/database systems and integrating with third party solutions.
5+ years of experience architecting data/database solutions and designing the integration with third party solutions.
8+ years of experience working in a hybrid agile development methodology
3+ years of R development experience
1+ years of data analytics in statistical analysis and survey data
1+ years of Python development experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
U.S. Citizenship Required

Preferred Experience

Experience with R Shiny applications
Experience with Tableau
Experience with Data Engineering
Experience with Microsoft’s Azure Technologies
Experience with a variety of databases and ETL solutions

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general hybrid office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
