Survey Technician / Crew Chief

We are growing our Survey team in the Columbia, MO area and looking for a Crew Chief to help lead what’s next.

This role is for someone who is already leading in some capacity - running crews, guiding field work, helping solve problems. Not just doing the work, but helping shape how it’s delivered and how the team grows.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll play a key role in delivering survey work from field to finish, supporting crews, staying close to projects, and helping ensure things run smoothly across the board.

Along the way, you’ll:

Stay close to project performance (scope, schedule, budget)
Lead daily field operations for land survey projects, directing crew members in the collection of accurate field data for boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
Perform field calculations, establish and check horizontal and vertical control, and ensure proper reference to known benchmarks.
Oversee and train field technicians, promoting safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices.
Conduct field QC reviews to confirm completeness and accuracy of collected data.
Document site conditions, photos, and any field changes or discrepancies that could impact project deliverables.

What We're Looking For

Experience leading survey crews or coordinating field work
A few years of experience in land surveying (crew chief, party chief, or similar)
Comfort working across field and office environments
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
A sense of ownership: you care about the work, your team, and doing things the right way
