Job Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with all aspects of an assigned project from beginning to completion including planning, logistics, tracking, billing, and close-out.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Contribute to timely, effective bid proposals or project budgets by assisting the Project Manager in plan review, conducting job walks, attending pre-bid meetings, preparing take-offs, obtaining pricing from vendors/subcontractors.
- Assist with entering data into estimating software.
- Manage projects assigned from beginning through completion including attending pre-construction meetings; coordinating work schedule with customers, municipalities, and the public.
- Obtaining and reviewing required permits, completing and submitting traffic control plans.
- Assist in assigning experienced foremen, crew, and owned equipment to projects.
- Scheduling vendors/subcontractors and ordering materials/equipment as needed.
- Provide daily project documentation by ensuring all field logs, photos/videos, and production reports are complete and accurate.
- Contribute to accurate payroll records and customer billings by processing daily crew time logs and vendor/subcontractor tags.
- Contribute to effective implementation of WVCC's safety program by monitoring and reporting safety compliance in the field.
- Contribute to timely, accurate handling of all personnel issues by providing written documentation to the Project Manager of personnel issues that arise (performance, safety violations, accidents, behavioral issues, etc.).
- Contribute to compliance with all WVCC personnel policies and procedures.
- Participate in monthly job revenue estimate updates with the Division Manager.
- Assist the Project Manager in providing oversight on all projects assigned by visiting job sites on a regular basis, and working closely with the Superintendent and Foreman to be up-to-date with all job site activities.
- Update and maintain as-builts as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date job files for all assigned projects.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or similar degree preferred; or a combination in education and experience.
- Certificates/Licenses: valid CA driver's license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: computer knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
- Interpersonal Skills: ability to interface with a variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies, and the general public.
- Leadership: proactively cultivating leadership abilities through a willingness to receive constructive feedback and demonstrate coachability.
- Mathematical Skills: ability to calculate footages and material quantities. Ability to transition into an estimating role periodically, focusing on data entry/takeoffs.
- Organization and Planning: ability to read and interpret specifications and improvement plans. Ability to manage individual priorities, work activities, and manage multiple projects at any given time.
- Problem Solving: ability to use a systematic approach to solve problems and evaluate alternative solutions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.

Salary:
- $80,800/year - $99,600/year
