ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Material Handling - Approximately 50%
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled as needed.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Operates forklift
- Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Saw Operation - Approximately 50%
- 10% - Adjusts and secures ends and backstops on saw table or bolts saws to shaft and turns hand wheels to space saws and stops, according to specified length of stock.
- 20% - Starts saw and places material to be cut on conveyor belt, drums, or feed chain that feeds stock into saws, or positions workpiece against end stop and under saw, synchronizing action with automatically descending blade, or pushes material on table and cuts wood.
- 5% - Pulls lever to swing saw through material, or pushes moveable table past saw, or depresses treadle to raise saw through slot in machine table, or tilts table for angle cut and presses pedal to move saw through workpiece to cut stock.
- 5% - Replaces dull or damaged saw blades and lubricates machine.
- Included - Examines material prior to cutting to determine what cuts will remove defects and produce maximum footage.
- 10% - Verifies dimensions of stock cut and accuracy of cuts.
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to pass Will-Burt Fork Truck Operator Certification.
