AVIAN is looking for a Network Architect with a Top Secret clearance to support or customer at PMA-230, Black Wing. The ideal candidate will directly support the design, build, prototype, deploy, and maintain classified National Security Systems that support Naval Aviation mission engineering and advanced development programs for Naval Air Systems Command.

Responsibilities
The Network Architect’s primary responsibility for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing local and wide area networks for a Program Office to ensure mission capable for Acquisition, Engineering, Test and Evaluation activities and maximum uptime for users. The role can include designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading or integrating existing network systems and architectures as necessary. As a key part of our Organizations technical networking team, the Network Architect will:
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or integrate and improve the efficiency of current networks.
- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP.
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation.
- Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
- Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Arranging scheduled upgrades.
- Investigating faults in the network.
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate across Government and Industry teams to identify network design requirements and opportunities for leveraging existing networks.
- Develop network architecture artifacts and requirements for the network environment ensuring models, emulations, simulations, digital representations, hardware, and software are interoperable.
- Collaborate with Data Architects and IT/Cyber personnel to ensure the network architecture / design complies with relevant / necessary IT/Cyber methods, processes, and requirements.
- Provide inputs into requirements documents and statements of work.
- Establish the technology strategy and technology roadmaps for Program Office and classified programs.
Qualifications
- Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience cannot be substituted for education.
- Required Certification: Candidate must meet the requirements of an Information Assurance Systems Architects and Engineers (IASAE) Level III as defined by DoD 8570.01-M.
- Required Experience:
- Candidate must have 5 years of experience in defining, developing, and implementing network architecture strategies.
- Candidate must have experience providing strategic technology direction and architecture vision, encompassing an enterprise view across a large portfolio of capabilities.
- Desired Experience and Skills:
- Architecting or implementing on premise stand-alone network solutions, on premise cloud solutions, virtual desktop infrastructure, high performance computing and processing, and cross-domain solutions.
- Knowledge of digital engineering and model based systems engineering.
- Candidate should be proficient in all Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Candidate should have demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
- Candidate should have experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, complex security environment.
- Candidate should be proficient in multiple Operating Systems including Windows and Linux.
- Candidate should be an expert knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, UDP, and routing.
- Candidate should have experience with network hardware and infrastructure such as routers, hubs, servers, VPNs, and switches.
- Candidate should have knowledge of firewalls and security for network security.
- Candidate should have knowledge of cloud networking architecture, virtualization, and automation.
- Candidate should have experience with monitoring and troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Must currently posses and be able to maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance with an investigation within the last 6 years.
- This position has an on-site requirement in Patuxent River, Maryland and is not eligible for remote/hybrid candidates.
- Estimated travel is 10%
- Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Salary range: $125,000-$190,000 (The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
