MTSI is seeking an Open Systems Architecture software engineer with a TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility to support an Air Force Lifecycle Center, Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate customer at WPAFB, Ohio. The engineer will support multiple projects within the Architectures and Systems Engineering Group. The engineer will generate software pipelines and interfaces, review code and work with consortiums to advance Government Reference Architectures, while providing guidance on software development practices to enable secure, interoperable, and compliant architectures. The software engineer will be located on-site with the customer at WPAFB.

Essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
- Performing the role of Software Engineer across multiple acquisition efforts, to include: design, development, integration, test, deployment.
- Defining/implementing open architectures.
- Applying modern commercial software development practices and tools such at: AGILE, Kanban, Git, Artifactory, Cucumber, Atlassian, Jenkins, etc.
- Applying digital engineering best practices in open architecture development/implementation, including use of MBSE approaches.
- Development and evaluation of RFP packages and other technical documentation for competition and acquisition of new systems.
- Working with the industry and acquisition programs to resolve challenges with implementing open architectures.
- Continuously improving open architectures to meet customer needs.
- Developing and presenting information to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Must have 10+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years of experience working Special Access Programs within the last 4 years.
- Experience with hybrid cloud software targeted deployments.
- Demonstrated ability applying modern commercial software development practices and tools such at: AGILE, Kanban, Git, Artifactory, Cucumber, Atlassian, Jenkins, etc.
- Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python or protobuf
- Experience with Linux OS, such as: RedHat (RHEL), CentOS, etc.
- Experience with container frameworks and orchestration, such as: Kubernetes, K8s, Docker, Singularity, OCI, etc.
- Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-starting, charge-the-hill mentality to deliver mission capability at the speed of need.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science/engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- A Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility is HIGHLY desired on day one. Well qualified candidates possessing only a Secret clearance (with the ability to obtain a TS clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility) may be considered.
- Familiarity working with or within open architecture vendor consortiums
- Familiarity with open system design concepts and open architectures (e.g., Big Iron, Open Mission Systems (OMS), Universal Command/Control Interface (UCI), etc).
- Familiarity with Real-time operating systems (RTOS), complex digital device hardware including FPGAs and DSPs, hardware description languages, Open VPX, VITA, GPU, Cuda, OpenGL, RF Technologies and Software Defined Radios, and knowledge of different IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystem.
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo).
Clearance Requirements
- Must have at least a Secret clearance to start, with the ability to obtain a TS with SCI and SAP eligibility. TS with SCI and SAP eligibility is required to maintain position.
