6-month contract with extensions

We are actively seeking a COBOL Developer for a 6-month contract that could lead to full-time employment.

Responsibilities

Scope and design solutions from technical requirements and overall business need.
Deliver QA and testing support as needed and troubleshoot problems and implement reliable change.
Participate in and conduct development activities with offshore resources.
Conduct technical walkthroughs with all stakeholders.
Support system testing activities and resolve any technical issues.
Provide emergency bug fixes to production issues and resolve client research requests.
Provide production support by fixing batch process abnormal ends within strict SLAs.
Handle change requests for implementing changes and owning them until closure.
Meet with project managers to provide daily or weekly project statuses.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of software development engineering experience.
Working knowledge in an IBM Mainframe environment
Proficient with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and working with IBM Mainframe ZOS toolsets.
Experience in technical design writing and documentation.
Proficient with usage of MS office Outlook, Word, Excel. SharePoint.
Ability to problem solve, code, test, and deploy application fixes in a fast-paced SLA driven environment.
Code and test high priority and critical changes utilizing COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
