Torch Technologies is seeking a talented and versatile Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team
. You will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and software for autonomous vehicles, working at the intersection of hardware and software innovation. We are innovators in the automation field, specializing in drones and ground vehicles for airfield inspection and recovery. Our team designs and develops cutting-edge compute payloads, autonomy stacks, and applique kits to roboticized vehicles, enabling them to sense, move, and think independently. Responsibilities:
- Electrical Design & Development: Design, prototype, and test electrical systems and custom PCBs for vehicle automation.
- FPGA Programming: Develop and implement FPGA-based solutions to meet unique automation challenges.
- Hardware Integration: Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate hardware into vehicle platforms.
- Software Development: Write, test, and deploy code for robotic systems, using modern tools like Git, VS Code, and Docker.
- Robotics Expertise: Utilize your knowledge of robotics and the Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2) to contribute to our autonomy stacks.
- Testing & Optimization: Conduct rigorous hardware and software testing, ensuring reliability and efficiency under field conditions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop end-to-end solutions for autonomous systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in designing and building custom PCBs and programming FPGAs.
- Experience with modern software development tools, including Git, IDEs (e.g., VS Code), and Docker containers.
- Familiarity with robotics platforms and middleware, particularly ROS/ROS2.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and sensor integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with autonomous vehicle systems, including drones and ground robotics.
- Knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C).
- Exposure to machine learning or AI applications in robotics.
- Familiarity with field testing in dynamic environments.
