Brown and Caldwell has an opportunity for an Environmental Engineering Intern to spend a summer working with our Municipal Engineering team to support our Boise, Idaho office. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who wants to spend their summer gaining practical, hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Detailed Description:
As a student intern, you will perform routine engineering support duties requiring professional training but little or no experience. You may be assigned, under close supervision, to simple engineering data analysis, data assessment, data entry and formatting and organizing information for reports. You may also perform basic CAD or GIS input or modifications, and also provide basic project support such as formatting and distributing meeting notes; project filing, field site visits, and other general support of project engineers. The work may also include engineering design tasks such as providing input to design drawings and technical specifications, and construction related engineering tasks such as reviewing contractor submittals and answering construction related inquiries from the contractor.

Interns at Brown and Caldwell make a daily, material impact by completing support duties to advance their team’s projects and objectives. They receive professional training and the support of their team. Interns can expect to be onboarded, mentored, and developed by industry leaders to develop real-life skills and make an impact on their assigned projects. Projects this role may work on include:
- Local municipal market wastewater treatment technology assessments and coordination.
- Recycle water and wastewater process planning and design activities.
- Office and on-site support of construction oversite, submittal reviews, requests for information, and change orders.
- Project management support and document control.
- Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
As an Environmental Engineering intern, you can expect your experience to include the following:
- Work closely with project managers and other team members to execute work involving conventional types of civil, environmental, and/or mechanical engineering principals and other related activities for water and wastewater treatment, industrial water treatment, and conveyance projects.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (e.g., drafters, designers, and other engineers).
- Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
- Perform data entry, analysis, and visualization.
- Provide engineering services during construction.
- Participate in field work, as needed for projects.
- Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time.
- Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s quality assurance/quality control process.
- Work schedule and location:
Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office at the Boise, Idaho Office, 2 days remote, occasional fieldwork, as needed
Desired Skills and Experience:
To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a degree in engineering, science, geology, or a related field. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
