Civil Engineer - Water Resources

This role will focus on floodplain modeling, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and support for a wide range of water resources and civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, is eager to work on meaningful flood risk and watershed projects, and brings technical expertise and innovation to the table.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform floodplain modeling and mapping using software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GeoHECRAS, and related tools
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management, stream restoration, drainage systems, and FEMA studies
Prepare detailed technical reports, modeling summaries, and support regulatory submissions (including CLOMRs and LOMRs)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, surveyors, CAD technicians, and project managers
Support permitting efforts with local, state, and federal agencies (e.g., FEMA, USACE, local water authorities)
Review and interpret FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports, and related documents

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field (Master’s a plus)
Professional Engineering License (PE)
4+ years of relevant experience in water resources engineering
Proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, and Civil 3D
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred or willingness to obtain
EIT or PE license is a plus

Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include education (or applicable experience), training, job location, competencies relevant to the role, and internal equity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours and Travel:

This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 70% of time spent in the office and 30% out of the office.
