Job Summary
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and optimizing financial operations with a continuous focus on increasing efficiencies, improving processes, and promoting cross-functional teamwork. This role ensures the accuracy, security, and completeness of financial documentation and plays a key role in asset management, property tax compliance, and financial reporting.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Continuous focus on increasing efficiencies, improving processes, and promoting teamwork.
- Ensures documentation is complete, accurate and secure.
- Maintains files and accounts for all fixed asset activities, including acquisitions, adjustments, depreciation, transfers, and retirements.
- Performs research, journal entries, and fixed asset entries, as needed.
- Leads all fixed asset inventory audits.
- Prepares the CAPEX Budget.
- Manages R.O.I documentation for Projects.
- Prepares Personal Property Tax Returns and requests payments.
- Maintains all property tax records, accruals, and CIP accounts.
- Participates in the monthly/quarterly/annual financial close process.
- Analyzes inventory, cost, expense, and labor data.
- Enters general journal transactions; performs GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) calculations and adjustments.
- Verifies and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Works closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Finance and Information Technology Teams.
- Provides back-up and support for the Controller & Assistant Controller.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, required.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting and margin analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles.
- Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.

- Ability to demonstrate an exceptional level of self-motivation.
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of organization, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to repetitively use hands to handle, control, or feel objects and/or keyboards.
- Must be able to clearly articulate information to internal and external customers so they may understand the information being communicated.
- Must be able to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
- Must be able to be an active listener and able to communicate for prolonged periods of time.
