PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the responsibilities of the Production Support are to provide production support where required in the form of shipping & receiving, CSP documentation, painting, disassembly and assembly, lagging and shop cleanup.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the employee will:
- Prepare all documentation for outgoing products and ensures the appropriate departments are kept up to date
- Palletize and ensure proper packaging and handling of outgoing goods per PPI standards.
- Material handling – staging parts and pulleys for required manufacturing processes.
- Receive shipment contents and compare with records such as shipping manifests, Drawings, Purchase orders.
- Prepares CSP documentation, completes report and communicates with necessary departments as required
- Operates Sandblast equipment according to PPI procedures/work instructions and safety and environmental regulations
- Cleans sandblasting equipment and follows all health and safety and environmental regulations
- Provides production support to lagging and painting department
- Support in the disassembly and assembly of conveyor pulley components including couplings, bearings and shaft fittings
- Remove garbage from shop and lunchroom garbage bins and empty dumping bins
- Sweeps shop floor, clean up oil and grease spills and sweeps under machinery, walkways when production demands allow.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 5 years experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Operating forklift, class 4/5,
- Operating overhead cranes – 30T
- Working in confined space (an asset)
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment
EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Read, write and speak English - Grade 12 education preferred
- Knowledge of applied mathematics; fractions, decimals
- Able to understand shop/technical drawings
- Good writing and computer skills to complete documentation
- Confined Space training (an asset)

- Lift crane rigging chains/slings (up to 70 lbs.)
- Lifting materials (up to 70 lbs.)
- Replace oxygen, acetylene and inert welding gas
- Crouching, kneeling stooping
- Climb up, down and work off platform ladders
- Climb up and down scaffold
- Climb in and out of forklifts
- Work in and climb in and out of confined space
- Operate 5”, 6” and 9” angle grinder safely
- Working in severe weather
- Good visual and hand-eye coordination
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vison
