HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UK - GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Head of Business Development is a key member of the company’s global Business Development (BD) team whose primary mission is to fuel the growth of PLEXSYS as a global company, with a sharp focus on the UK, Middle East and Africa regions (“the region”), this person is responsible for the development and execution of BD strategies and plans across the region, creating new opportunities and fostering growth in existing markets.
You will drive the growth of the Company’s business model in the region to achieve our goal to scale our business interests internationally. You are fully responsible for developing productive strategic alliances and shaping major opportunity captures to produce positive business results. You will leverage your knowledge and experience in market competitiveness, pricing, marketing, and channel strategy to develop qualified leads that produce profitable sales.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Drive the development of military and commercial sales plans and engagement, focused on new customers, aligned to the PLEXSYS growth strategy
- Lead the development, review, and submission of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROMs) quotes, and proposals in the region in accordance with PLEXSYS policies and processes
- Work closely with PLEXSYS Leadership to develop, establish, and direct channel distribution strategies
- Collaborate seamlessly across US, UK, and AUS BD Leadership and teams
- Conduct capture and shaping activities, including attending industry briefings, monitoring programme announcement channels, and engaging with programme offices to determine requirements, contract vehicles, funding, and schedules
- Develop and maintain key customer relationships and solutions to customer readiness gaps
- Develop and implement sales and partnership strategies for expanding the regional customer base
- Give in-depth presentations of PLEXSYS solutions (products and services)
- Collaborate with Company Marketing to develop and implement regional marketing plans. Contribute to marketing content, white papers, and innovative marketing communications
- Support the Company's participation in trade shows, industry events, workshops, and webinars
- Update Salesforce persistently and accurately for corporate awareness and efficient execution
- Special projects and other duties, as required
- Ability to travel, up to 30% of your time
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, or related field. Significant (>5 years) related professional experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement
- Extensive background in Defence Modelling and Simulation (M&S) and readiness training
- Knowledge of, and experience in UK Government acquisitions and procurement
- Operational and/or industry experience in all-domain operations, command and control (C2) training systems and/or radio/data-links communication training systems
- Skilled in capture and proposal management processes, including color team reviews
- Experience in planning and managing both strategic and operational BD
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create and add value to results-driven, team-oriented environments
- Experience in Customer Relationship Management and/or Capture lead systems
- Substantial experience working with Defence
- Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive) strategy
- Extremely effective public speaking skills and presence
- Ability to clearly communicate in written form, such as technical proposal/white paper experience
- Sales experience or working knowledge of similar Defence markets in UK/EMEA region
- Hold, or have the ability to hold, Security Clearance – Secret or above
DESIRABLE
- Relevant military experience
