Interim Construction Controller
$48.00 – $52.00 per hour

A growing construction firm is seeking an experienced Interim Construction Controller to join its leadership team. This is a newly created role, offering an exciting opportunity for an Interim Construction Controller to make a lasting impact on the company’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Interim Construction Controller will oversee all accounting and finance functions, ensuring financial accuracy, optimizing cost management, and driving strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Construction Controller:

The Interim Construction Controller will lead the accounting and finance department, overseeing general ledger management, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting.
Establish financial and operational benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards to support business growth and expansion.
Develop and implement job costing processes to enhance financial tracking and project profitability, a key responsibility of the Construction Controller.
Conduct cost control reviews and implement strategies to optimize project financial performance.
Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and provide strategic insights to senior leadership as the Interim Construction Controller.
Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, budgets, and expenditures to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting.
Oversee the preparation of forecasts, project budgets, and financial planning reports, which are essential to the role of an Interim Construction Controller.
The Interim Construction Controller will manage, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff to enhance team performance and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements, and internal controls to maintain financial integrity and transparency.

Qualifications for the Interim Construction Controller:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in a mid-to-senior financial leadership role.
Proven track record as an Interim Construction Controller or similar financial leadership position in the construction or contracting industry.
Strong experience in financial project management, with expertise in streamlining accounting processes.
Demonstrated ability to develop cost controls and financial tracking for large-scale projects, a vital function of the Interim Construction Controller.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a finance team.
Advanced proficiency in Excel is required, including experience with complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling.
Sage 100 is preferred, as it offers the ability to leverage ERP systems for financial management and reporting.
