Responsibilities
A Day in the Life of a Human Resources Specialist:
The Human Resources (HR) Specialist plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture by partnering with managers and leadership to support employee relations and performance management. This role is responsible for addressing employee concerns; managing complaints related to policy violations, harassment, and discrimination; and conducting thorough, objective workplace investigations to recommend appropriate actions. The HR Specialist will assist in developing, implementing, and communicating HR policies and procedures, as well as delivering training on key HR topics and best practices.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (but not limited to):
• Partner with managers and leadership to address employee concerns, foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with company values, and guide all aspects of performance management, including coaching, performance improvement plans (PIPs) and corrective action. • Respond to and manage employee complaints, allegations of policy violations, and concerns related to harassment, discrimination, and other workplace concerns.• Conduct timely, objective and thorough workplace investigations; document findings, maintain appropriate records, and recommend or support implementation of corrective or disciplinary action. • Assist with the development, updating and communicating HR policies and procedures• Assist with the development and delivery of training presentations, both virtually or in person on various HR topics and guidance on company policies, procedures and employee relations best practices. • Ensure understanding of and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations• Prepare documentation for legal proceedings, unemployment claims, and government agency inquiries (EEOC, DFEH, DOL, etc.).• Review and respond to unemployment claims; and support regional management in preparing documentation and participation in unemployment hearings. • Work with payroll and benefits teams to resolve employee matters as needed.• Coordinate and conduct exit interviews with departing employees • Participate in audits, reporting and HR projects as assigned. • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and ensures labor law posters are current across the region. • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries for employment records.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field; equivalent experience (5+ years in HR) may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations and handling sensitive employee matters with discretion, fairness and sound judgement.• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Experience delivering training on HR topics such as policies, best practices and performance management.• Highly organized, detail oriented and able to consistently follow through on assignments• Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment and manage sensitive situations while maintaining strict confidentiality• Strong general computer proficiency, including skills with Microsoft Office business software (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, TEAMS) and Internet research.• Solid understanding of employment laws and HR compliance requirements across multiple states.
• Must possess a valid driver's license. • Willingness and ability to travel to multiple worksites across various states• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.• Ability to travel to other regional locations for work, training, meetings and other work-related activities.• Position may require climbing stairs and ladders, walking and standing for long periods of time.• The position requires mobility within the office; use of a computer and other office machinery such as a scanner and copy machine.• Must be able to deal with a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment, including handling multiple tasks• on a daily basis.• May require use of personal or company vehicle, or electrical cart.• Ability to independently lift/carry supplies or equipment up to 30 lbs.

Annual Compensation Range: $77,000 - $88,000 Plus Bonus.
