By implementing an innovative digital platform paired with unmatched artisan-crafted products and client service, we've made it easier than ever to specify and purchase beautiful, sustainable tile sourced and handcrafted in the US. Our tireless commitment to innovation, transparency, and sustainability has not gone unrecognized. We aim to grow 25-35% annually and are the first tile company recognized as a B Corp for how we use Business as a Force for Good. With an innovative product, an ambitious team, and an inspiring mission, we're changing the way you think about tile.
Come join the makers who support the dreamers!
We are looking for a passionate, versatile, and hands-on IT & Systems Specialist to join our team and contribute to our mission of “doing good by crafting products intentionally, collaboratively, and transparently.”
The Team You’ll Work With …
As the IT & Systems Specialist, you will be an integral part of our talented Operations and Technology team, collaborating to ensure seamless connectivity between our office, tile manufacturing floor, and our new high-end marble fabrication facility. You will bridge the gap between traditional IT support and industrial automation, playing a key role in integrating new CNC and Waterjet technologies into our network infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to help with technical architecture of a growing multi-site production operation. Reporting to the IT/Operations Manager, this position is located primarily in Richmond, CA, with travel to San Francisco, Berkeley, and Aromas (Onsite). Our culture thrives on professional development, ongoing training, and opportunities for growth within the organization. This is a salary position and pays $65,000 - $95,000.
Meet the Hiring Manager, Marshall McKerchie! Joined Fireclay Tile in 2024 to spearhead digital transformation and manufacturing excellence. The team supports every corner of the organization, ensuring our digital tools work as hard as our makers do. By putting technology at the heart of our operations, we’re streamlining workflows and creating a more seamless, efficient experience for our entire team.
What You’ll Achieve …
- Ensure High Uptime: Maintain and troubleshoot workstations and network hardware across our locations to keep production moving.
- Integrate New Acquisitions: Lead the technical setup for our new marble countertop division, ensuring CNC machines and Waterjets are networked and operational.
- Bridge the IT/OT Gap: Act as the primary responder for both office-based software issues and floor-based hardware failures.
- Optimize Cross-Site Connectivity: Manage the secure transfer and storage of design data between our creative teams and the fabrication machines.
- Hardware Reliability: Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve connectivity issues within industrial control panels and network racks.
What We Look For in You …
We are looking for someone who is resourceful, curious, and mechanically inclined, possessing a 'Swiss Army Knife' approach to technology. You are excited to support high-end craftsmanship through modern automation and thrive in a dynamic, multi-site manufacturing environment.
- The Generalist Mindset: You enjoy "knowing a little about a lot" and are equally comfortable at a CLI prompt or using a volt meter.
- Independent Problem Solver: You work with flexibility and authority over daily priorities, identifying what needs fixing before it halts production.
- Manufacturing Resilience: You are comfortable working in a fabrication environment (dust, noise, and machinery) and understand that "IT" includes the cables running to a Waterjet.
- Mobile & Adaptable: You enjoy the variety of traveling between our Bay Area and Aromas locations to provide hands-on support.
Technical Skills
- Network/Hardware: Proficiency in LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and hardware diagnostics (Network testers, Volt meters).
- Software: Windows OS, Mac OS, Microsoft 365 administration, Google Work Space, and basic ERP support.
- Industrial Awareness: Exposure to PLCs, CNC machine interfaces, or automated fabrication software (CAD/CAM environment) is highly preferred.
Soft Skills
- Clear Communication: Ability to translate technical jargon for both office staff and shop-floor fabricators.
- Adaptability: A calm demeanor when troubleshooting time-sensitive equipment failures.
- Project Management: Ability to self-organize tasks across multiple geographic locations.
