ROLE SUMMARY:
Entry-level position supporting the Manufacturing and Preconstruction/Estimating teams by updating and maintaining commercial MEP project estimates to accurately reflect the project team’s prefabrication decisions for piping, plumbing, sheet metal, and electrical work. Training will be provided with the goal of developing the incumbent into an independent estimator/cost analyst for prefabrication scope and for manufacturing labor/cost tracking.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Essential duties are those tasks that are critical to the role but may not identify all tasks associated with role which may at any time be assigned by the immediate supervisor; for details on performing the all duties, please refer to the SOP at the end of this JD)
- Partner with Preconstruction/Estimating, Project Management, VDC, and Manufacturing to identify and document what scope will be prefabricated versus field-installed, and keep project estimates aligned with those decisions.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, addenda, and model information to confirm scope, quantities, and constructability; identify gaps and required clarifications.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimate build-ups for piping, plumbing, sheet metal, and electrical systems using company estimating software and standards.
- Evaluate installation and prefabrication approaches to support accurate labor/material assumptions and cost impacts, with guidance from senior estimators and manufacturing leadership.
- Update estimated labor and material allocations to separate shop-prefabricated work from field-installed work, enabling accurate Manufacturing labor and material tracking against actual shop production
- Create and maintain estimate notes, assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, and prefabrication scope summaries to support manufacturing planning, reporting, and project turnovers.
- Support turnover and scope alignment meetings by communicating updated prefabrication scope, budget impacts, and estimate assumptions to Project Management, VDC, Operations, and Manufacturing.
- Coordinate with Drafting/VDC when shop drawings, spools, or model updates are required to execute prefabrication and avoid conflicts between in-house trades.
- Act as liaison between Manufacturing, Estimating, and Project Teams to ensure timely communication of prefabrication decisions and to support continuous improvement of estimate-to-fabrication workflows.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE: (Minimum requirements are those concerned with the very minimal qualifications sought for the role to include “education, experience, licenses, certificates, permits, etc., appropriate to the role)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and construction/estimating experience.
- Entry-level/early-career; willingness and ability to learn company estimating processes and software (training provided).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel; ability to learn additional estimating/cost tools as required.
- Strong attention to detail, math aptitude, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across Estimating, VDC, Project Management, Operations, and Manufacturing.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, Power BI, Stratus, Accubid, Autobid and/or other estimating software is preferred but not required.

- Will train on OSHA 10 and 30; as appropriate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
