Position Location & Schedule
This position is located in HMC’s Ontario, California or Los Angeles, California office. The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays.
Job Summary
We’re looking for a creative, forward-thinking
Marketing Manager who’s passionate about storytelling, strategy, and shaping the future of the built environment. In this role, you’ll help bring HMC’s vision to life—to be a nationally recognized leader in our markets by connecting growth, innovation, diversity, and exceptional people to design vibrant, healthy communities. As the voice behind our 80+ year legacy, you’ll craft powerful narratives, elevate our brand, and develop marketing materials that resonate with clients and reflect our mission. You’ll work as a strategic partner alongside practice leaders to drive top-line growth, sharpen our differentiation in the marketplace, and strengthen our presence across key sectors.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop win strategies in partnership with Champions and practice leaders
- Support teams in preparing for client meetings, interviews, and presentations
- Write clear and compelling narratives by synthesizing complex technical information
- Create fresh, engaging marketing content and collateral across multiple mediums
- Coordinate statements of qualifications, proposals, SF330s, and other marketing materials
- Participate in pursuit planning, messaging, and presentation rehearsals
- Collaborate with leadership to shape pursuit messaging and strategic content
- Assign, manage, and oversee marketing tasks to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency
- Partner with leadership on strategic proposal and interview development
- Conduct research on clients, competitors, and market trends to inform strategy
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts to gather intel and cultivate leads
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve use of technology
- Monitor regulatory or legislative activity that may influence service needs
- Develop strategies for key client targets with Marketing and BD leadership
- Prepare reports summarizing business development activity and market insights
- Centralize and manage pursuit-related information, leads, schedules, and BD activities
- Ensure timely communication and decision-making among pursuit team members
- Review pursuit materials for quality, accuracy, and consistency
- Manage Deltek database entries for marketing and support staff
- Write and update project descriptions, collateral, and proposal content as needed
- Support social media efforts and digital content across platforms
- Develop internal communications calendars, messaging, and content
- Support thought leadership, PR initiatives, award submissions, and firmwide promotions
- Coordinate special events, conferences, and related marketing materials
- Assist with internal event logistics and development of deliverables
- Manage conference attendance, sponsorships, and related coordination
- Participate in professional organizations and industry events
- Monitor industry trends and collect market intelligence on clients and competitors
- Mentor pursuit specialists and marketing coordinators
- Assist with photo shoots, competitor analysis, client strategy, and research
- Research BD-generated leads, local market trends, and project opportunities
- Provide excellent client service and support to teams across the firm
Position Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Architecture, or other applicable degree program
- Minimum 3-5 years in a marketing role for an architecture, engineering, or construction company.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign)
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Lightroom, After Effects) is preferred
- Working knowledge of database programs such as Deltek and Axomic OpenAsset
- Working knowledge of digital hub platforms such as MangoApps is preferred
- Working knowledge of digital whiteboard programs such as Miro is preferred
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and work well with various types of personalities and work styles
- A self-starting and results-oriented outlook
- Comfort in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
- Attention to detail and quality of work
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to take ownership of a project and see it through to completion
- Well-developed writing skills
- Proofreading ability
- Visually literate with strong verbal and graphic communication skills

The salary range for this position is $65,591 - $95,254.
The actual salary offered for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
