Veterinary Technician Instructor - DVM (Part-Time)

Location: San Antonio, TX | Campus: On-Site

As a Part-Time Veterinary Technician Instructor, you will implement the program curriculum to educate and inspire the next generation of veterinary professionals. You will serve as the "Attending Veterinarian" for the campus, providing medical decisions for patients and ensuring the highest standards of care in a learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Medical Oversight

Attending Veterinarian: Act as the "Attending Veterinarian" for the program and participate in all IACUC meetings.
Patient Care: Examine patients for medical necessities, review diagnostic testing, and communicate abnormalities to rescues.
Medical Authority: Provide all medical decisions for patients and perform medical procedures within the program.
Compliance & DEA: Maintain the DEA license and controlled substance logs, monitoring supply levels and expiration dates.
Regulatory Standards: Ensure all medical records are complete and in full compliance with AVMA and USDA standards.

Instructional Excellence

Classroom & Lab: Prepare and deliver lectures, practical demonstrations, and daily lesson plans.
Competency Tracking: Monitor lab competencies and confirm student skill levels on checklists.
Student Success: Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes and implement plans to encourage program retention.
Administration: Maintain student grades and prepare final evaluations at the end of each sequence.
Professional Mentorship: Coordinate guest speakers and community service field trips to enrich the student experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited institution with a degree certifying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Licensure: Must be a Licensed Veterinarian in Texas and hold all current designations required by law to work in the field.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a DVM in a clinic, hospital, or shelter environment.
Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet documents.
