Overview
Job Summary:
A Project Engineer is responsible for monitoring activities at assigned construction sites. Inspects construction site daily and works with vendors to schedule deliveries, and to ensure that materials are delivered on time. Responsible for reviewing specifications or drawings and ensuring that construction progresses as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to. Works to ensure that all state, federal, and industry codes or specifications are followed. Also reports to management any deviations and works on corrections. Works in a safe and timely manner with the best quality possible.

Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the list below.
- Work as an adjunct to the Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager to complete tasks as assigned.
- Educate yourself about where the Project Manager’s duties end and yours begin to stem any miscommunication; both between the two of you as well as members of the project team.
- Understand the scope of the project, identify the project participants, keep updated contact information, and ensure that you have the reliable means of communicating at all times with the project team.
- Evaluate the progress of the project to ensure that the timeline is followed steadily and consistently. Keep an open line of communication with the project participants so they can alert you to potential problems that might occur.
- Perform important administrative functions for the Project Manager, which include taking meeting minutes, making phone calls to vendors and suppliers, responding to e-mails, and writing progress reports to the project team.
- Update and maintain as-Built drawings if required.
- Prepare RFI’s, submittals and transmittals.
- Update project schedules.
- Submit weekly budget projections.
- Track quantities or percentage of job complete.
- Track and update project material for the job.
- Manage Blue Stakes.
- File State Construction Registry (SCR) and Lien Waver forms.
- Obtain Storm Water Permits.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or other related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior construction site work experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures related to commercial construction.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels from client, management, to workers and sub-contractors.
- Ability to understand plans and specifications.
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize and correct discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Creativity and ability to think outside the box.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as being able to work independently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Utilize Viewpoint, Primavera P6 scheduling software, Bid2Win, etc.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
Physical Requirements:
- Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
