JOB SUMMARY
Project Manager manages the overall project direction, completion, and financial outcome for assigned projects within GCC’s Heavy Civil Construction Underground Department, with a primary focus on wet underground utility infrastructure including water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
The Project Manager is responsible for directing and mentoring on-site staff and coordinating off-site activities to ensure successful project delivery. The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, knowledge of construction contracts, underground utility construction methods, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills.
Experience coordinating underground utility work within public infrastructure and private development projects is highly valued.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages and/or coordinates Company personnel and resources;
Oversees and assists the site safety manager;
Assists in estimating efforts;
Performs constructability reviews, including evaluation of underground utility installation methods, trenching, shoring, and dewatering requirements;
Prepares and executes Project Execution Plan;
Oversees project permit process, including coordination with local municipalities and utility agencies related to water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure;
Prepares subcontracts, purchase orders and oversees procurement process;
Oversees cost control and change management systems;
Maintains relationships with clients, designers, consultants and internal GCC clients;
Coordinates with utility agencies and stakeholders regarding existing utilities, relocations, and tie-ins to existing wet infrastructure systems;
Prepares initial master schedule and oversees updates;
Compiles reports regarding financial performance of the project;
Prepares monthly client project status reports, as required;
Reviews and approves Trade Contractor Payment Applications with Superintendent;
Reviews GCC pay application to owner and ensure monthly submission when costs are incurred;
Attends and leads project meetings, including progress, pre-construction and pre-award;
Reviews inspection and test data for compliance with specifications;
Develops and maintains site logistics plan, in coordination with Superintendent;
Set-ups QA/QC procedures and conduct quality inspections;
Communicates and enforces Safety and Health Management Program;
Demonstrates commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others;
Oversees project close-out;
Owner contact for post-construction, including warranty period.
Supports achievement of the company’s organizational goals and objectives by being cross trained and cross training others to increase knowledge and ability to perform different tasks.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent education and experience required.
5+ years of Heavy Civil construction experience required, with preference for experience managing underground utility projects involving water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
Experience managing projects involving wet underground utility installation, utility coordination, trenching, shoring, dewatering, and related civil infrastructure systems is highly preferred.
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, accounting, etc., plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.
Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities vital.
Demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.
