The Workers’ Compensation Claim Supervisor, Technical position is responsible for the supervision and oversight, investigation, adjustment, supervision of assigned workers’ compensation claims. This position may be used as an advanced training position for consideration for promotion to a management position. Accountable for the quality of workers’ compensation claim services as perceived by CCMSI clients and within our Corporate Claim Standards.
Responsibilities
- Review, assign and provide supervision of all workers’ compensation claim activity for designated claims to ensure compliance with Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions and in accordance with applicable laws and State licensure requirements.
- Investigate, evaluate and adjust assigned workers’ compensation claims in accordance with established claim management standards and laws.
- Reserve establishment and/or oversight of reserves for designated claims within established reserve authority levels.
- Responsible for providing litigation management oversight, direction and analysis including: attorney identification and selection criteria, litigation planning and budgeting, status reporting, strategic resolution facilitation and overall direction of litigated claim files.
- Provide oversight of medical and miscellaneous invoices to determine if reasonable and related to the designated claim. Negotiate any disputed bills or invoices for resolution.
- Authorize and make payments of workers’ compensation claims in accordance with claim procedures utilizing a claim payment program in accordance with industry standards and within established payment authority.
- Direct handling of designated complex claims.
- Supervision of all claim activity for specified accounts.
- Compliance with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and special client handling instructions as established.
Act as a Workers’ Compensation subject matter expert to highly involved dedicated client group. Attend meetings and provide guidance and feedback on the Workers’ Compensation process.
Extremely high degree of customer service and consultative nature is required.

Must be detail oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational abilities. Ability to coordinate and prioritize required. Flexibility, accuracy, initiative and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Discretion and confidentiality required.
Reliable, predictable attendance within client service hours for the performance of this position.
Responsive to internal and external client needs.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and externally.
Education and/or Experience
Seven (7) years of claim experience is required.
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
NC focus, some SC, VA, GA, and ability to learn other jurisdictions.
Nice to Have:
- Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency — highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required.
Computer Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Adjuster’s license may be required based upon jurisdiction.
AIC preferred.

Compensation & Compliance
The posted salary reflects CCMSI’s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
